Thai Prime Minister’ met with Chairman of ‘CHEC’, to invest ‘Landbridge’

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin,during the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) in Beijing, People’s Republic of China, met with executives of CHEC, a leading construction and transportation company in Asia. The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for CHEC’s investments in Thailand, particularly in projects like the Laem Chabang Port expansion and Phase 3.

CHEC confirmed that it has received strong support from Thailand throughout its involvement in the Belt and Road Initiative. The BRF serves as a platform to foster new dimensions of cooperation. The company welcomes Thailand’s support for infrastructure development, including the construction of highways and rail systems, and the successful implementation of the Laem Chabang Port expansion.

Moreover, there are plans to integrate the port, city, and industrial estate for the landbridge project. The Prime Minister was pleased to hear that CHEC is interested in participating in the landbridge project. He encourages the company to engage with the Ministry of Transportation for various large-scale construction projects in Thailand. Regarding the landbridge project, it will comprise two connected ports via railway, and CHEC is advised to liaise with the Board of Investment (BOI) for special privileges. The Prime Minister also encourages CHEC to consider establishing regional offices in Thailand, as it would be mutually beneficial.
